Obituary for Warren G. White

Warren White, 87 of Hobe Sound, FL died at the Jupiter Medical Center in Jupiter, FL. He was born in Fort Pierce, FL to the parents of the late Russian and the late Hester Harris White. He attended the public schools of Martin County. He was inducted into the United States Armed Forces on November 24, 1942 and received an honorable discharge on November 8, 1945 after participating in Campaign "Northern France", and Campaign "Normandy". Mr. White re-enlisted in the United States Armed Forces on November 9, 1945 and on November 1, 1946 received another honorable discharge and World War II Victory Medal after having fought in World War II. Although most of his life was lived in Hobe Sound, Mr. White also lived in New York City where he retired from U.S. Customs as an inspector. He will always be lovingly remembered by his family as, "a good provider, who loved his beautiful wife and his family." Along with his parents, Mr. White was also preceded in death by: a son, Wallace E. White, Sr.; 4 sisters, Willie Lee Johnson, Priscilla White, Rosa Lee Mays and Evalina White; 5 brothers, Frank White, Sylvester "Bubba" White, Julius White, Eddie White and Alphonso White; and his son-in-law, Edwin Tucker. Survivors include: a loving and devoted wife of 64 years, Stella E. White of Hobe Sound; a caring daughter, Carol L. Tucker of Hampton, VA; adopted son, Robert McGimpsey (Barbara) of Texas; a brother, Ernest White of Hobe Sound; 6, grandchildren, Tawana White, Wallace E. White, Jr. (Lee), Chenessia West, Tavain W. Tucker, Justin White and Robert White; 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of caring nieces, nephews , great-nieces and great-nephews, including special supportive great-nieces and great-nephews, Regina Wilkerson and Delores Russell (William), Donald White and James "Junior" Johnson; daughter-in-law, Barbara White; sister-in-law, Berthell Ott of Brooklyn, NY; other relatives in-laws and friends who will forever miss his kind heart and giving spirit. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, February 20, 2009 from 4pm-7pm at New Allen Temple A.M.E. Church in Hobe Sound. "A Service of Memory" will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2009 at 2:30 pm at the church, with the Reverend James Allen pastor of Peaceful Valley C.M.E. Church in Hobe Sound, officiating and the Reverend Eugene Monroe is pastor. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Banner Lake Cemetery in Hobe Sound. Thorne's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
