Obituary for Uzell P. Moment

Mrs. Uzell P. Moment, a well known resident of Hobe Sound, FL went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Martin Health System-South in Stuart, FL. She was born in Concord, GA to the parents of the late Simon T. Parks, Sr. and the late Laura Mitchell-Parks on March 4, 1939.  She completed her primary and secondary education in the public schools of Pike County, GA. Mrs. Moment was a member of St. Matthew Primitive Baptist Church in Hobe Sound where she served faithfully as the church secretary, a member of the usher board and mother's board. She was a self-employed laundress. Uzell Moment was a strong community advocate and concerned citizen of the Banner Lake Community and was a member of the Banner Lake Women's Club. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by:  a daughter, Laverne Moment, and siblings, Elizabeth Straughter, Simon T. Parks, Jr., Josephine Parks Patterson, Floretta Lewis, Milton Parks and Linda Parks Hooks. She leaves behind to cherish her precious memories: a loving husband of 59 years, Joseph Moment, Jr. of Hobe Sound, FL; 2 loving sons, Lonnie Moment (Regina) of Port Salerno, FL and Donald Moment of Hobe Sound, FL; 3 devoted daughters, Janice Hatcher (David) of Jupiter, FL, Kendra Moment Ruiz (Oscar) and Elizabeth Moment of Brandon, FL; a brother, Emory Parks (Dale) of Hobe  Sound, FL; 11 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, church family and friends who will dearly miss her. Services:  Visitation will be held  on Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 10am-11am at New Allen Temple A.M.E. Church in Hobe Sound, FL.  A Home Going Celebration will begin 11am at the church with the Reverend Thomas McClain, pastor of St. Matthew Primitive Baptist Church in Hobe Sound officiating. Mother Uzell P. Moment will await the resurrection at Florida Memorial Cemetery in Hobe Sound (formerly Banner Lake Cemetery). Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart.
