Obituary for Tyrone Guthrie Reverend

Reverend Tyrone Guthrie, 64, of Hobe Sound, FL went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 20, 2015 at his residence, surrounded by the love and care of his family. Rev. Guthrie was born on January 10,1951 in Edgar, FL to the late Wilson T. Guthrie and Bertha Ubanks-Guthrie. He was an entrepreneur in the Horticultural industry working for many families and businesses throughout the community. He was a member of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, served as secretary of the Ministerial Alliance and former member of the Baptist Pastors Assoc. Being a self-employed horticulturist afforded him many opportunities to appreciate and spend time with the Lord his God in the midst of his creations. Rev. Guthrie loved to study the word of God and think on the things of God always being eager to spread the good news to anyone he met. He also had a special joy of spending time with the love of his life of 45 years, Tina and their 7 granddaughters and great-grandson who affectionately called him "Papa". They gave him a joy like only the Lord could give. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter, Tajuna Washington. He will forever be remembered and cherished as a humble giant to his family and friends. Those left to honor his legacy are, his wife, Tina of Hobe Sound, FL; 1 son, Tyrone Guthrie, Jr. of Atlanta, GA; 1 daughter, Tanita Guthrie of Hobe Sound, FL; 3 brothers, Wilson Guthrie, Jr. (Doris) of Hawthorne, FL, Anthony Guthrie (Dorothy) of Ft. Pierce, FL and Roland Guthrie also of Ft. Pierce. 3 sisters, Carolyn Guthrie and Cora Guthrie both of Hobe Sound, FL and Mary Dubois (Joe) of Ottawa, Canada. Home Going Services and Military Honors are as follows: VISITATION: Friday September 25,2015 from 5-7PM at New Allen Temple AME Church 8620 SE Comus Ave. Hobe Sound,FL HOME GOING CELEBRATION: Saturday September 26, 2015 at 11AM at the same location. Navy Burial Honors will follow immediately after service at Florida Memorial Cemetery formally known as Banner Lake Cemetery.
