Obituary for Tasha LaShay Blatch

Tasha LaShay Blatch, 34 died at Martin Memorial Hospital-North, Wednesday morning April 1, 2009. She was born in Stuart, FL to the loving parents of Curtis E. Blatch, Sr. and Delores Matheny. Tasha attended the public schools of Martin County, Florida. She graduated from Martin County High School in the Class of 1993; received an Associate of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Tallahassee Community College in 1997; a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University in Tallahassee, FL in 1998; a Master of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education from Florida State University in 2001; and was just shy two courses of completing certification to become a school principal from Nova University in Boca Raton, FL. Tasha thoroughly enjoyed children and was extremely successful in her profession as a kindergarten teacher for the Saint Lucie County School Board at Floresta Elementary School in Port Saint Lucie, FL. She was a member of Saint Paul A.M.E. Church in Stuart. Ms. Blatch was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Elder George and Eliza Blatch and maternal grandparents, Leroy and Louise Matheny. Survivors include: loving and devoted parents, Curtis E. Blatch, Sr. of Albuquerque, NM and Delores Matheny of Stuart, FL; a brother, Curtis E. Blatch, Jr. of Orlando, FL; a host of other relatives including aunts, uncles, cousins, many, many friends and colleagues who will most definitely miss her beautiful smile and loving personality. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, April 10, 2009 from 3pm-6:30pm at Saint Paul A.M.E. Church in Stuart, FL. A "Celebration of Life" will be observed on Saturday, April 11, 2009 at 2:30pm with the Reverend James C. Watson, pastor of Saint Paul A.M.E. Church officiating, at Jensen Beach Community Church (United Church of Christ), in Jensen Beach. Burial will follow at New Monrovia Cemetery in Port Salerno, FL. Thorne's Mortuary, Inc. of Stuart is in charge.
