Obituary for Sophie Mae Davis Mrs.

Ms. Sophie Mae Davis, 99 , a well known pioneer of Stuart, FL went home to forever live with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, (in the early morning hours of Sunday, August 28th, 2016), at Treasure Coast Hospice-Harper House in Stuart.  She was born to the parents of the late, Sam Pruitt and the late Bell Tarver Pruitt  in Eufaula, AL. Ms. Sophie was educated in the public schools of Barbour County, AL. After moving to Martin County, she became a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church where she served faithfully on Stewardess Board #1 until her health failed. Before retirement she was gainfully employed as a maid for private homes. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Vernon Davis, Sr.; and her siblings, Willie B. Pruitt, Julius Pruitt, Eddie Jones and Lula Bell Anderson. Left behind to mourn her passing and celebrate her homegoing are: 4 caring sons , Reverend Vernon Davis, Jr. (Norma) of Stuart, FL, Willie J. Davis of Port St. Lucie, FL, John T. Davis (Irma) of Americus, GA and Arthur L. Davis of Stuart, FL; 4 loving daughters , Jennie M. Davis, Pearlie Clark and Mozellar Leonard, all of Stuart, FL and Edith Ivory of Palm Bay, FL; 37 grandchildren, 103 great-grandchildren, 86 great-great-grandchildren ; 4 goddaughters , Yvonne, Elaine and Barbara Still and Annie Wesley; and a host of other relatives including a niece , Carrie Anderson from Georgia; and nephews, cousins, in-laws, neighbors, church family and friends  who will miss her dearly. Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 10am until 11am at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Stuart, FL.  She will await the resurrection at Fernhill Memorial Gardens in Stuart. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
