Mr. Simon T. Parks, Jr. 75 of Stuart, FL and former resident of Hobe Sound, FL died on Friday, at Treasure Coast Hospices in Stuart. He was born in Concord, GA (Pike County), to the parents of Simon T. Parks, Sr. and Laura Mitchell Parks. He was employed as a landscaper for private homes on Jupiter Island and was a member of Peaceful Valley C.M.E. Church in Hobe Sound. Survivors include: a devoted wife, Waddie Parks of Stuart; a son, Jerome (Paulette) Parks of Stuart; 2 daughters, Brenda Parks of California and Deloris Haston of Hobe Sound; 2 stepsons, Bruce McCallop of Rose Hill, NC and Walter McCallop of Bridgeport, CT; three stepdaughters, Johniesse (Robert) Williams of Jacksonville, NC, Sheila (Rev. Spencer) Preston of Hobe Sound, and Sonja Queen of Stuart; a brother, Emory (Dale) Parks of Hobe Sound; three sisters, Elizabeth Straughter and Uzell (Joseph) Moment of Hobe Sound and Linda (Leonard) Hooks of Atlanta, GA; 23 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Simon T. Parks, Sr. and Laura Mitchell Parks; a brother, Reverend Milton Parks and two sisters, Floretta Lewis and Josephine Patterson. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2008 from 4pm-7pm at Thorne's Mortuary Chapel in Stuart. A service of celebration will be observed on Saturday, August 16, 2008 at 11:00am, New Allen Temple A.M.E. Church in Hobe Sound with the Reverend James Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Banner Lake Cemetery in Hobe Sound. Thorne's Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
