Obituary for Shermeka LaTisha Smith

Shermeka LaTisha Smith, 36, of Hollywood, FL went home to be with the Lord early Sunday morning, on October 28, 2018.  She was born on Christmas Day December 25, 1981 in Hollywood, FL to the parents of Sherman Smith and the late Olivia Juanette Robinson-Smith. She was employed during her lifetime as the office manager for a family owned insurance company.  Shermeka was a member of the Hallandale Church of God where she served faithfully as: Sunday school superintendent, a Sunday school teacher, a member of Choir#3, Girl's Ministries, and Women's Discipleship. "Meka"' as she was affectionately known to her family and her friends, was very quiet, unassuming and lovable.  She and her only sister, Tajuana were very close and always looked out and cared for each other.  Her favorite color was red. She was educated in the public schools of Broward County and graduated from Hallandale High School in the Class of 2001. During her lifetime, she was employed as an office manager at an insurance company, a representative for Avon. Along with her mother, Olivia, she was also preceded in death by: her maternal grandparents, James and Ella Mae Robinson; her paternal grandfather, Vernon Smith, Sr.; an aunt, Sharon Perkins; an uncle, Lamar Robinson; and a cousin, Quinton Wallace, Jr. Remaining to mourn her passing as well as celebrate her homegoing are: her father, John Sherman Smith of Pem- broke Pines, FL; an only sister, Tajuana Vertez Smith of Hollywood, FL; paternal grandmother, Daisy Anderson-Smith of McDonough, GA; aunts, Eleanor Franklin (Calvin) of Hollywood, FL, Elga Wallace (Bishop Quintin T. Sr.) of Sanford, FL, Janice Robinson of Hollywood, FL; Ardesta Richardson (Reverend Ferman) of Tallahassee, FL, Felicia Robinson of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Vernal Livingston (Terrance) of McDonough, GA, Agnes Smith of Hollywood, FL and LaVaughn Bland of Nassau, Bahamas; uncles, Vernon Smith, Jr., (Alfreda) of Lake City, FL and Michael Smith (Mary) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and a host of other relatives including great-aunts and uncles, cousins, church family and friends who will certainly miss her. Services:  Visitation will be held at Hallandale Church of God from 5pm-7pm at the Hallandale Church of God, 821 NW 2nd Avenue in Hallandale, FL and a Home Going Celebration will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2018 - 11am at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church, 816 NW First Avenue in Hallandale with Bishop Quintin T. Wallace, Sr., officiating pastor of the Hallandale Church of God.                             Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary Stuart, FL.
