Obituary for Samuel Brown Jr. Bishop

Bishop Samuel Brown, Jr., 83, a resident of Gifford, FL and pastor of the Indiantown Church of God, went home to meet his Lord and Savior on April 13, 2017 at University of Miami Hospital at 3:47pm. Bishop Brown was born in Vero Beach, FL to the late “Sam Brown, Sr. and the late Ethel Prince Brown on August 6, 1933. He was educated in the public schools of Indian River County including Gifford High School. Before retirement, he was employed by Piper Aircraft as a welder.
At an early age he attended Prospect Baptist Church and later joined Heavenly First Born Church in Vero Beach. As he grew into manhood, he joined South Side Church of God under the leadership of the late Reverend Adderly.   After accepting God’s calling in his life, Bishop Samuel Brown, Jr. pastored four churches. He established his first church in Avon Park, FL on Delaney Avenue for 3 1/2 years, the 17th Street Church of God in Fort Pierce, FL for 7 years, the Stone Street Church of God in Cocoa, FL for 5 years and his final call in the gospel at Booker Park Church of God in Indiantown, FL for 21 years. What a great legacy gone on to be with the Lord! Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Willie Brown., Sequester Brown and Johnny Mack Brown all of Vero Beach, FL. Memories will be forever cherished by: his loving and devoted wife, Lorraine James Brown of Vero Beach, FL; 2 daughters, Bertena Austin (Dannie) of Melbourne, FL and Brenda McClain (Pastor C.N. McClain) of Fort Pierce, FL; 2 sons, Ben Green (Sylvia) of Clear Water, FL and Barry A. Moore (Marilyn) of Deland, FL; 22 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Sequester Brown and Johnny Brown both of Vero Beach, FL; 5 sisters, Carrie McKinney (Harold), Idonia Manning (Arthur), and Mae Bell Johnson (John), all of Vero Beach, FL, Ramonia Wallace of Miami, FL, Wanda Suttles of Kentucky and George James, Jr. of Indiantown, FL; 5 sisters- in-law, Irene Brown and Mattie Brown of Vero Beach, FL, Carolyn James of Indiantown, FL, Lois Haynes of South Carolina and Karol Kurtz of Hobe Sound, FL; godsons, Bishop Kenneth Williams (Georgia), Frank Williams (Vera) and Bishop Vincent Polk (Chris); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will certainly miss him.             Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at Northside Agape' Ministries in Gifford, FL. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, April 29, 2017 at 2pm, St. Peter's Missionary Baptist Church in Gifford, FL. He will await the resurrection at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce, FL. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
