Obituary

Ruby Lee Smothers Napier, 52 of Indian River County, FL  passed away on July 2, 2017 at Indian River Medical Center.  She was born in Vero Beach, FL to the parents of the late Emma Mae McCloud and the late Henry Smothers.  Ruby was educated in the public schools of Indian River County including Vero Beach High School. She graduated from Indian River Community College (now Indian River State College) in Fort Pierce, FL with an Associates Degree in Business Administration.  Ruby was employed at the Indian River Health Department as a medical and billing coder.  She was a member of the Medical Society of Vero Beach. She was a lover of life and enjoyed sharing it with  her family and friends.  Ruby was a joy to be around. Surviving to cherish her precious memories are: a loving husband, Kenneth Eugene Napier, Sr.; 2 sons, Tony D. Webb, Sr. (Kiera)  and Kenneth E. Napier, Jr., all of Vero Beach, FL; 2 daughters, Rhonda L. Stuckey (Mike Jr.) of Quantico, VA, and Latoya R. Napier (Darryl Wright) of Vero Beach, FL; a stepdaughter, Shanta Napier of Rome, GA; brothers, Otis Smothers, (Lue) of Gainesville, FL, Alfonza Smothers and Leon McCloud, Sr. (Vernithia) both of Vero Beach, FL; sisters, Angela Johnson of Oklahoma City, OK, Elaine McCloud, Waltermae "Toodie" Dix (Elder George Dix), Corrine Smothers and Florrine Smothers all of Vero Beach, FL; 13 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter, Aaliyah Nicole Jordan; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives including, aunts, uncles, cousins, co-workers ad friends. Services:  Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at the Humble Church of God in Christ, 3655 47th Street in Gifford, FL 32967.  A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 3:00pm at the church.  Burial will follow at Gifford Cemetery, in Gifford, FL. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
