Obituary for Ruby Lee Dunwoody-Taylor

Mrs. Ruby Lee Taylor, of Stuart, FL went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, November 28, 2019, at Treasure Coast Hospice - Harper House.  She was born to the parents of the late Anderson and Estella P. Dunwoody, in Sanford, FL on April 13, 1935. Ruby was educated in the public schools of Seminole County, FL. As time progressed, she met and married the late Claudius Taylor on February 26, 1955.  This union was blessed with five children. She was an excellent cook, and while residing in Indiantown, FL she was employed as a cook at the Seminole Inn in Indiantown, FL. Later in life, she owned her own restaurant in Indiantown, opened a grocery store and an apartment complex in Stuart, FL. Ms. Ruby loved to cook and people just loved her pigeon peas and rice, ribs, and sweet potato pies. Ruby was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Indiantown, FL. Along with her parents and her loving husband of 63 years, Claudius Taylor, Sr., she was also preceded in death by: her sisters, Estella Thomas of  New York, Victoria Williams of Silver Springs, Geneva Ashley and Sarah Bryant both of Sanford, FL; and her brothers: Anderson Ralph Dunwoody, Jr.  and Willie Lee Dunwoody both of Sanford, FL; Ernest G. Dunwoody of Denver, CO, and Willis Dunwoody of Michigan; her granddaughter, Shantella Howard of Stuart, FL; stepson, Tony Lockett of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; and stepdaughter, Barbara Green of Gifford, FL. She leaves behind to mourn: 3 caring daughters , Bernice Simpson (Joe) of Indiantown, FL, Deborah Thompson of Stuart, FL and Mary Davis (Jeffrey) of Fort Pierce, FL; 2 sons , Claudius Taylor, Jr. (Maggie) of Port St. Lucie, FL and Jacari Stubbs (Sheremah) of Jasper, FL;  27 grandchildren , 41 great-grandchildren , 50 great-great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-great-grandchildren ; and a host of  nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly. Services: Visitation, Friday night, Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Indiantown, FL               Homegoing: Saturday morning, New Birth Outreach Center in Stuart, FL   Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, Fl.
