Obituary for Roosevelt Johnson, Jr.

Roosevelt Johnson, Jr., 82 and a resident of Indiantown, FL went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at Cleveland Clinic/Martin Memorial North Hospital in Stuart, FL.

He was born on October 9, 1938, in Leflore, Mississippi to his beloved parents, the late Roosevelt Sr. and Nancy Johnson. He attended and completed High School. Later on in life, He moved to Indiantown, FL.
During his time in life, he was employed as a manager at Parks and Recreation Department of Indiantown, FL until he retired.

On February 28, 2009, he tied the knot with Jessie Mae Price, merging several families together through their union. Roosevelt and Jessie Mae was a comedic couple that would leave you laughing for days. They both attended Temple Beautiful of Indiantown, FL where he served as a faithful member under the leadership of Pastor Barbara Felton. He was known as Deacon Johnson.

Roosevelt lived life to the fullest. He enjoyed listening to gospel music, having family barbecues, drinking coffee daily, and fishing with his wife and best friend, Jessie Mae. If you knew Roosevelt, he wouldn’t let a day go by without a cup of coffee in his hand. Roosevelt and his coffee were inseparable. He was a natural born leader, especially when it came to his family. He was a devoted husband, loving father, and caring uncle to many.

He is survived by: his wife, Jessie Mae Johnson, and his children, 4 daughters, Mary Stone of Fort Pierce Florida, Renita Scott of Syracuse, New York, Delois Johnson of Memphis, TN; 5 sons, Michael Johnson of Memphis, TN, Titus Johnson of Syracuse, New York, Dareen Johnson and Neal Johnson (Lupe) of Indiantown FL, George Starks of West Palm Beach, FL; 2 stepchildren, Johnny Miley and Josephine Servings (Juan) of Indiantown, FL; and leaves behind a legacy of 60 grandchildren; 30 beautiful great-grandchildren; 1 brother, Minister George Webster of North Carolina; in-laws, Vernadeen Shanks (Robert), of Indiantown, FL; Pastor Odessa Brockington (John) of West Palm Beach, FL, Manuel Vaughn of Indiantown, FL, Gaynelle Chandler of Ocala, FL, Calvin Chandler of Indiantown, FL, Monroe Vaughn of Clarksdale, Mississippi and Sallie Howard of Palm Bay, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss him dearly.

Along with his parents, Roosevelt was also preceded in death by his 5 children: 2 daughters; Sheridan Sanford of Syracuse, New York and Annette Johnson of Memphis, TN; 3 sons, Mark Johnson and Michael Starks, of Indiantown, Florida and Kevin Johnson of West Palm Beach, FL.
