Mr. Robert Lee Matheny, Sr. 66 of Port St. Lucie, FL, transitioned peacefully from earth to glory at Port St. Lucie Medical Center, on September 20, 2017. He was born in Stuart, FL to the parents of the late Leroy Matheny, Sr. and the late Louise Green Matheny. He was educated in the public schools of Martin County and completed three years of college. During his lifetime he was employed as a truck driver for Rinker Construction Company and at his demise he was a driver for The Lodge Assisted Living Facility in Stuart. Robert was a member of St. Paul A.M.E. Church also in Stuart where he served faithfully on the Men's Usher Board. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by: 4 brothers, Charles Reed. Sr., Athel Green, Sr., Clyde Reed and Leroy Matheny, Jr.; 2 sisters , Thelma Reed and Annie Ruth Matheny; his former spouse, Sylvia Dickens Matheny; his mother-in-law, Carrie Brown Abrams. He will be forever missed, loved and cherished by : a loving and devoted wife , Malecia "Lisa" Brown-Matheny of Port St. Lucie, FL; 2 sons , Robert Matheny, Jr. (Alicia) of West Palm Beach, FL and Lamar Russell-Cassel of Stuart, FL; 2 stepdaughters, Shanna Graham of Port St. Lucie, FL and Uvonda Graham of Stuart, FL; grandchildren, Lamaya Rusell-Casel, Neveah Rusell-Casel, Robert Matheny III, Lamar Russel-Casel, Jr., Andre' Morris, Dequiria Smith, NiAsha McFadden, TyYona Theramene, Izaria Graham, and one yet to be born; 3 brothers, Isaac Matheny and Chester Matheny (Jennifer) both of Stuart, FL and Jerry Matheny (Brenda) of Port St. Lucie, FL; 3 sisters, Margie Harris of Port Salerno, FL, Lillie Moreland (Sam) of Stuart, FL and Delores Matheny of Port Salerno, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends. Robert enjoyed life and was a proud husband, father, brother and exceptional grandfather, uncle and friend. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, September 29, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at St. Paul A.M.E. Church in Stuart, FL. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday, September 30, 2017 11:00am at First United Methodist Church, 1500 S. Kanner HWY in Stuart, FL 34994.
