Obituary for Robert A. Dawson Sr.

Mr. Robert A. Dawson, Sr., 94 of Port St. Lucie, FL went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2016 at St. Lucie Medical Center. He was born on February 24, 1922 to the parents of Augustus Dawson and Ida White Dawson in Alachua, FL. Mr. Dawson was a pharmarcist and had lived in Port St. Lucie for 33 years (after moving from Ft. Lauderdale, FL). He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Port St. Lucie, FL. Other memberships include: the Knights of Columbus, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, VFW, and a former Mason. He graduated from Xavier University (Louisiana) in the Class of 1960. He was the owner of a Rexall Drug Store in Gary, IN and has also been employed with Super RX and Walgreens Drug Store Chains. After moving to Port St. Lucie, FL (from Ft. Lauderdale, FL), he continued his employment with Walgreens until retirement. His career in the pharmaceutical industry spanned 66 years. He served in the United States Army and bravely fought for his country in WWII. After his tour of duty he was honorably discharged. Robert was preceded in death by his loving parents, Augustus and Ida Dawson, and his devoted wife, Betty Dawson. Left behind to cherish his precious memories are: 3 devoted sons, Robert Dawson, II and his wife, Gina of Miami, FL, Michael Dawson and his wife, Donna of Port St. Lucie, FL, Carl Dawson and his wife, Sheila of New Orleans, LA; 3 caring grandsons, Cedric Lloyd, Brandon Dawson and Reginald Dawson. Services: A graveside service of celebration and military honors will be observed on Saturday, July 16, 2016, 1pm at Fernhill Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum, 1501 South Kanner Highway in Stuart, FL 34994. Professional services have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary Stuart, FL.
