Obituary for Randall Dean Godwin Deacon

Deacon Randall Dean Godwin, 49 of Fort Pierce, FL (Lakewood Park), passed away at his residence. He was born to the parents of the late Hezekiah Ezekiel Godwin, Jr. and Caruther Manning Godwin in Jacksonville, Florida. He was educated in the public schools of Duval County, Florida and was a proud graduate of William M. Raines High School in the Class of 1980. He went on to Florida A&M University and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in 1986. He had a passion for surf fishing and watching sports on television, especially football. Deacon Godwin also had a great love for his family and friends and he never met a stranger. Deacon Godwin served diligently at his church, (Mt. Zion MBC in Vero beach, FL) and loved being a deacon. He thoroughly enjoyed his kitchen ministry and loved to cook. He was a devoted member of the Mt. Zion Choir and loved mentoring all young folk. Deacon Godwin was also a former county coordinator for the Indian River County Special Olympics. Along with his father, he was also preceded in death by a son, Hezekiah Godwin, II and a daughter, Rayla Godwin. He leaves to cherish his precious memory: his loving and devoted wife, Monica; his daughters, Courtney Godwin and Ranesha Blue; a special “daughter”, Ashleigh Beverly; his mother, Caruther Godwin; a sister, Dr. Gail Godwin; brothers, Lyndon (Kim) Godwin and Carlton Godwin; his mother-in-law, Lena M. Bell; two sisters-in-law, Mary (TH) Taylor and Cathy Bell; a special niece, Kimierra Scott; two nephews, Lyndon Kahlia and Drew Godwin; along with a host of other family members, friends and church family including LeVincent Clark, Johnathan Jenkins and his godson, Johnathan Jethroe. Services: A homegoing memorial service will be held on Monday, April 23, 2012 at 11:00am, Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Vero Beach, FL with Pastor AL Waddell officiating. Arrangements are by Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL. Please sign the guest registry.
