Obituary for Pernell Green

Pernell Green, 91 of Stuart, FL peacefully passed away at Palm City Nursing and Rehabilitation on Sunday, April 2, 2017. He was born in Fort Lauderdale, FL to the parents of the late Charles Green and the late Eunice Sullivan Green. He as educated in the public school system of Martin County, FL.  He was a well known resident of Baker Road for many years. He was a member of the Lake Street Church of Christ in Stuart, FL. Pernell enlisted into the United States Armed Forces (Regular Army) on October 9, 1945 and was honorable discharged from on October 8, 1948.  He served for 3 years, 1 month and 7 days. After re-enlisting on October 9, 1951 for 6 years into the Air Force, he received the rank of S/Sgt (P) and honorably discharged on November 28, 1955.   During that tour of duty he received the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal and also was a martial arts instructor.  He served for 6 years, 1 month and 7 days. Pernell was also retired from the Merchant Marine and the Martin County Correctional Institution. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Leon Charles Green (Alice). He is lovingly survived by: his wife, Diane Green of Stuart, FL; a brother, Jalen Ernest Green Sr. (Marie); 3 nieces, Alicia Solomon (Tony) of Stuart, FL, Latonia  Mobley of Jacksonville, FL and  Rosalind Green of Stuart, FL; four nephews, Kevin Thompson of Port Salerno, FL, Wellington Lavette Green, Bronx, NY, Ernest Jalen Green and Yocove Kevin Green of Stuart, FL; a host of other relatives including, cousins, in-laws and friends who will miss him dearly. Services:  Visitation will be held on Friday, April 14, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at Thorne's Mortuary Chapel.  A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017, 5pm at the chapel with Minister Henry McFadden officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
