Obituary for Pearl Douglas Monroe Mother

Mother Pearl Douglas Monroe, 81 of Wabasso, FL went home to be with the Lord on New Year's Eve at VNA Hospice in Vero Beach, FL. She was born in Quincy, FL to the late James Douglas and Lucy Moore Douglas. She attended the public schools of Gadsden County, FL and moved to Indian River County, FL over 60 years ago. Mother Pearl was a member of the Wabasso Church of God for 63 years. She was a member of the Mother's Board, Women's Ministries, Adult Ladies Sunday School Class and various ministries of helps including Missions and the Culinary Department. She was also a mentor to the younger saints and during her younger church years orchestrated the Sunday Morning worship programs. Before retirement she was employed in the citrus industry. She was preceded in death by her sons, John Henry Scott and Alfred Monroe; a daughter, Annie Pearl Francis; and several of her siblings. Survivors include: her children, Annie Doris Jones (Johnny), John Monroe (Veronsie), Christine Mortimer (Daniel, Sr.), Bonza Monroe (Debra) and Vernon Monroe (friend, Sophia); 23 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, godchildren; sisters, Grace Woodard and Ella Rea Sailor; church family, neighbors and friends who will miss her warm smile, loving, kind and giving spirit. Services: visitation will be held on Friday, January 8, 2010 from 4pm-7pm at the Wabasso Church of God. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2010 at 11:00am at the church with Bishop John A. Thorne, Pastor/Officiating. Burial will follow at West Wabasso Cemetery.
