Obituary for Mother Mary Alice Jefferson

On Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 2:07 pm, all of heaven rejoiced as Mother Mary Alice Holland-Jefferson made her triumphant entrance across the "Portals of Glory."

She was born on May 9, 1939, in the town of Savannah, GA, to the parents of the late Jimmie Roberts and Lillie Roberts and was later raised as their own by the late Carrie Lee Holland and Johnny Holland.

Mother Mary believed in doing what was right and anything short of that just was not acceptable. She was an extremely loving person but would chastise you when you needed it. She did it in such a way that you could not be angry at all.

Before retirement, she was gainfully employed as a surgica/operationl technician at Sebastian River Medical Center. For 37 years she had the responsibility of making sure that the surgery instruments were cleaned and properly sterilized. She was also a faithful and hard-working employee of Thorne's Mortuary where she was in charge of guest registry documentation, distrubution of prayer cards and programs and greeted those who attended the services with superb hosptality. She could be trusted to exercise extrerme care in whatever was placed in her keeping, and most of all, she was always on time, time, time!

Along with her parents and her husband, she was also preceded in death by: two sons, Michael Anthony Jefferson and Wallace Jefferson, III; sister, Bernice Battles; brothers, Isaac O. Roberts, Nelson Roberts and Carlton Roberts.

Surviving to cherish her sweet memories are her children: one daughter, Pamela Carter (Kenneth) of Sebastian, FL; her sons, Henry Jefferson (Jodie) of Williston, NC, Tony Jefferson (Dannette) of Port Salerno, FL, Reverend Lorenzo Jefferson of Sebastian, FL, Jerome Jefferson (Martha) of Tucson, AZ, Reverend Dennis Jefferson of Sebastian, FL and Christopher Jefferson of Sebastian, FL; brothers, George Roberts (Nettie) of Pearson, GA, Herman Roberts of Douglas, GA, Jimmie Roberts, Jr. of Willacoochie, GA and Allen Roberts (Cheryl) of Blackshear, GA; sisters, Shirley Moore of Waycross, GA and Wanda Jean Griffin (Lonnie) of Willacoochie, GA; 27 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-granddaughter, Ava M.
