Obituary for Mary Elizabeth Thompson Thomas

Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Thompson-Thomas, 85 of Port Salerno, FL went home to be with the Lord at her doctor's office in Stuart, FL. She was born in Stuart, FL to the parentage of the late Arthur A. Thompson, Sr. and the late Pender Gibson-Thompson on September 28, 1933.  She was one of 17 children. She received her primary and secondary education at Stuart Training School (STS) in Martin County.  Mary was employed by the Martin County School District as a custodian and a home maker for private homes. Mary was a very kind and loving person who loved her family and adored her grandchildren.  She was one of the world's best cooks and her fried fish and souse was absolutely mouth watering. She was a member of the Port Salerno Church of God and back in the day, she would always be the one to purchase clocks for the church.  Mary was also the founder of The Concerned Citizens of Port Salerno (now known as the Concerned Citizens of New Monrovia). Along with her parents Arthur and Pender Thompson, she was also preceded in death by: a son, Henry Thomas;  15 siblings, Euthirpy Miller, Patricia Hall, Maybelle Atkinson, Julia World, Christine McDuffy, Rovena Woods, Louise Reese, Rosaleen Thompson, Miriam Thompson, Dora Thompson, Bishop Jesse H. Anderson, Sr., Samuel A. Thompson, Prince Thompson, James Thompson, John Thompson, Arthur Thompson, Jr. and a grandson, Carl R. Thomas, Jr. Left to mourn her passing and celebrate her homegoing are: 4 caring sons , Kevin L. Thompson of Indiantown, FL, Ronald Lee Thomas, Carl R. Thomas and Peter W. Thompson (Beverly) all of Port Salerno, FL; 2 loving daughters , Sandra Thomas-Thompson (Robert) of Port Salerno, FL and Dale Thomas-Parks (Emory) of Hobe Sound, FL; 1 brother and last remaining sibling, Richard G. Thompson of Port Salerno, FL; 28 grandchildren and three generations of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends who will certainly miss her. Services:  Visitation will be held on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 5pm-7pm at the Port Salerno Church of God 4605 SE Cove Rd. Stuart, FL  34997.  A Homegoing Celebration will be held at 11am on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the church.  She will await the resurrection at Florida Memorial Cemetery in Hobe Sound, FL. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of her family's funeral home, Thorne's Mortuary, Inc. in Stuart, FL.
