Obituary for Mary Jane Mackey-Jones Mother

On Sunday, November 27, 2016 at Martin Memorial Health Systems-South, surrounded by the love, tears and melodious songs of praise and thanksgiving, Mother Mary Mackey Jones, 83 of Port Salerno, FL made her triumphant entry across the portals of glory, where time and death will be no more at 5:45 pm. She was born in Salerno, FL on February 10, 1933 to the parents of the late Deacon Isaac and Mother Anna Dorsett Mackey. She was educated in the public schools of Martin County, FL and graduated from Stuart Training School in the class of 1951. Before retirement she was employed as a caregiver for private homes. She was married to the late Charles Edward Jones. "Mother Mary" as she was affectionately known, was a faithful member of the Port Salerno Church of God where she joyfully served in various capacities namely: an original member of the Port Salerno Gospel Singers, Youth Church Mother, Praise Team, Mary's Food Ministry, MADD-DADS, Intercessory Prayer Warrior, Port Salerno Choir, Ladies Discipleship, Sunday School Teacher, and was a featured soloist on many occasions. She was honored by New Monrovia CDC in 2012 for her hard work and dedication to the community. She will eternally be remembered as a loving, caring and peaceful individual, who was filled with the Spirit of the Lord and had a beautiful smile coupled with eyes that sparkled with His grace. Along with her parents and her husband, Mother Mary Jones was also preceded in death by: her siblings, James Miller, Muriel Morris, Ruth Hall, Naomi Raines, Clarence Mackey, Cecil Mackey, Sr., Isaac Mackey, Jr., and Alma Mackey. She leaves behind to cherish her sweet memories: 4 caring sons , Edward Timothy Taylor (Benthiola) of Chicago, IL, William Craig Durant, Sr., and Charles Derrick Jones (Dorane) both of Stuart, FL and Joseph Passanesi (Laura) of Fort Meade, FL; 4 loving daughters , Denise Allen (Reverend Andre' Allen) of Wheaton, IL, Kathy Regina Jones Hammond (Lorain) of Jacksonville, FL, Crystal Claire Jones Chappell (Alfred) of West Palm Beach, FL  and Leslie Celeste Jones Tranchese (Timothy) of Port St. Lucie, FL; 2 devoted sisters , Esther Seymour McDonald of Stuart, FL and Loretta Bradley of Hobe Sound, FL; 1 devoted brother , Herbert L. Mackey (Donna)of Stuart, FL; 2 precious godchildren ,  Donald "D.A." Adamson, II (Chantalle) of Orlando, FL and Timeelah Adamson of Stuarat, FL; 28 wonderful grandchildren , and 29 adorable great-grandchildren ; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, church family, neighbors and friends who will certainly miss her. Services : Visitation will be held on Friday, December 2, 2016 from 4-6pm at the Port Salerno Church of God. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, December 3, 2016 - 11am at the church, with the pastor, Bishop Glenford E. Hutchinson officiating and Bishop Samuel McNeece, presiding pastor of Leap of Faith Ministries-West Palm Beach, FL.  She will await the resurrection at New Monrovia Cemetery - SE Cove Rd. in Port Salerno, FL. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
