Mary Elizabeth Christie, 58 of Stuart, FL affectionately known as "Liz", died on Monday, June 15, 2009 at 10:18pm in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Stuart to the parents of the late John Christie and Mary Mackey Christie. "Liz" was educated in the public schools of Martin County and graduated from Martin County High School in the class of 1968. She was employed at the Manors of Hobe Sound as a certified nursing assistant for 13 years and was a member of Saint Monica's Episcopal Church in Stuart. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Anne Christie. Survivors include: sons,Dwight Christie and Paul Miller of Port Salerno; daughters, Katrina Christie of Port Salerno and Wanda Miller-Ivey (Sylvester) of Jacksonville, FL and Janine Farro of Port Salerno; brothers, Johnny Christie (Susie) of Tallahassee, FL and Ronnie Christie of Port Saint Lucie, FL; sisters, Helen Quintana (Tony), Sandra Graham (Ferrell) and Fay Christie, all of Port Salerno, Rose Mary Jones (Jesse) of Ft. Pierce, FL, and Sharon Jackson-Dean (Troy) of Kennett Square, PA; three grandchildren, Brianna Christie and Terrell Mabins of Port Salerno, and Jasmyne Dreher of Jacksonville, FL. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, June 19, 2009 from 4pm-7pm at Thorne's Mortuary Chapel in Stuart. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2009 at 3:00pm, Saint Luke's Episcopal Church in Port Salerno. Burial will follow at New Monrovia Cemetery in Port Salerno. Thorne's Mortuary is in charge.
