Obituary for Martha G. Brown Mother

Mother Martha G. Brown, 77, a resident of (Gifford) Vero Beach, FL went home to be with the Lord during "Sunday Morning Worship" at the Indiantown Church of God, where her husband, Bishop Samuel Brown, Jr. is pastor and she was the Church Mother, First Lady and Women's Ministries President. She was born in Jefferson County, Florida on April 17, 1931 to the parents of the late Joe Green and Daisy Johnson. After the untimely death of her mother, she was blessed to be reared by her grandmother, the late, Hattie Johnson. Mother Brown was converted at an early age and became a member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. She completed her primary education at Antioch Elementary School and graduated from Howard Academy High School in Monticello, Florida. After graduation, she moved to Fort Pierce, Florida in 1950 to reside with her sister, the late Mary Green Davis. It was there that she met and was united in Holy Matrimony to Samuel Brown, Jr. She labored in the vineyard along with her husband very faithfully in various capacities during his pastorate of several churches in the state of Florida. It was her wish to transition from this life on a Sunday, while worshipping and praising her Savior, Jesus Christ, and on Sunday April 5th, her wish was granted. Hallelujah! Along with the aforementioned relatives, Mother Martha G. Brown was also preceded in death by her children, Jimmy Green and Gloria Mae Brown Hawkins; a sister, Mary Davis; her mother and father-in-law, Ethel R. Prince Brown(2008)and Samuel Brown, Sr. Left to cherish her precious memories as well as celebrate her homegoing are: a loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Bishop Samuel brown, Jr. of Vero Beach, FL; a caring son, Ben L. Green (Sylvia)of Clearwater, FL; a loving daughter, Bertena Austin (Daniel Jr.) of Melbourne, FL; a step-daughter, Brenda McClain of Ft. Pierce, FL (Pastor Charles McClain); a brother, Willie B. Hogan (Ada) of West Palm Beach, FL; several grandchildren including a devoted granddaughter who was reared as a daughter, Mickaolyn B. Morgan (Fitzgerald) of Palm Bay, FL; two aunts, Maggie Alexander of Monticello, FL and Thelma Laster of Ft. Pierce, FL; three brothers-in-law, Sequester Brown, Willie Brown, Sr. (Irene) and Johnnie Brown, Sr. (Mattie), all of Vero Beach; five sisters- in-law, Carrie McKinneY (Harold) of Vero Beach, Remonia Wallace of Miami, FL, Idonia Manning (Elder Arthur Manning) and Mae Johnson, (John) of Vero Beach and Wandan L. Suttles of Elizabethtown, KY; a host of other relatives including a devoted cousin, Evangelist Rachel Workman (Minister Joseph) of Vero Beach, FL; godchildren, Shawn Jefferson, Orville Peterson, Rolanda Jones, Reverend and Sister Wright, Shonda Henry, Gloria Clark and Nathaniel Clark; many, many friends, neighbors and church family members who will miss her out-of-this world cooking, seriousness of salvation, her straight laced-demeanor and fashion savvy of dressing, matching from head to toe. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, April 17, 2009 at Northside Agape' Ministries Church of God in Gifford from 4pm-8pm. "A Homegoing Celebration" will be held on Saturday, at Saint Peter's Missionary Baptist Church in Gifford, FL at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Gifford Cemetery in Gifford, FL. Thorne's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
