Obituary for Marcos Antonio Minondo Jr.

Mr. Marcos Antonio Minondo, Jr. 91 of Okeechobee, FL passed away at Glades Health Care Center in Pahokee, FL on Tuesday, September 18, 2018. He was born in Guayama, Puerto Rico on November 22, 1926 to the late Javier Antonio Minondo, Sr. and the late Eduvigis Barboso.  He completed his primary and secondary education in Puerto Rico. Mr. Minondo migrated to Princeton, Florida and then to Virginia for better employment opportunities.  he loved the agriculture industry and In 1957, he relocated to Okeechobee, FL working as a seasonal laborer and then to Pennsylvania where he was employed in packing houses working in the canning industry.  Later he relocated back to Okeechobee where he met and married his soul mate, Christine Patricia Ervin in Dean's Court (in 1983). They had a long partnership of love and deep devotion for one another. This union was blessed with five children. Marcos was always a very hardworking man who put his family first, and in 1989 he retired from the River Gold Fruit Company as a crew leader with nearly 20 years of dedicated service. He was also a genuinely kind man and lived by the motto, "Love Thy Neighbor."   He was known in and around his community, and from miles around, as a passionate fisherman.  He had a great sense of humor.  He enjoyed visiting and entertaining with his family and friends; and watching baseball.  His favorite team  was the Atlanta Braves and his favorite player was Sammy Sosa. To his children and grandchildren, he was inspirational and leaves a strong legacy of perserverance, love and devotion. Along with his parents, others that preceded him in death were siblings: Luis Minondo, Ana Minondo, Fannie Minondo, Idelsonso Anaya, Sylvia Anaya and Isabelino Anaya. He leaves to cherish his precious memories : four daughters , Jacqueline Coleman, Marian "Neicey" Robinson, Karen Ervin and Patricia A. Ervin-Kennedy; three sons , Michael A. Minondo (Deborah), Adrian L. Minondo and Marcus A. Minondo, lll (Shannon); three sisters , Ann Anaya, Gloria Anaya and Irma Anaya; 21 grandchildren , 14 great-grandchildren; a special brother-in-law, Levern Ervin (Juanita); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and sorrowing friends including the staff at Glades Health Care Center in Pahokee and Trust Bridge Hospice of Palm Beach. Services :  Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 29, 2018 from 2pm-3pm at Buxton and Bass Okeechobee Funeral Home and Crematory, 400 N Parrott Avenue, Okeechobee, FL  34972 (863) 824-5875.  A Homegoing Celebration will begin at 3pm with Reverend Willie Johnson officiating.  He will await the resurrection at Evergreen Cemetery in Okeechobee, FL. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL .
