Mother Mantha Washington, 88, a pillar in the Stuart community, went home to be with the Lord at Amore Dementia Care in Stuart. She was born to the parentage of the late Clifton Green and Celia Raysor Green in Stuart, FL. Mantha Washington graduated from Stuart Training School. She held positions as a teacher, companion, and homemaker. Mother Mantha Washington was a faithful member of Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Stuart. She loved to tell everyone that she met, “I Love You and There’s Nothing You Can Do About it.” She was a Deaconess and also one of the mothers in the church. Along with her parents, Mantha Washington was also preceded in death by a loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Captain Leroy Washington, a step-daughter, Evangelist Carol Washington Glover; brothers, David, Waveland, Julius, Nathaniel, Clifton Jr. and Clifton Green III; sisters, Thelma Cartledge, Minnie Noble, Mable Green, Viola Ingram, Callie Sawyer, Margaret Poole, Annie Lou McHardy, and Robertha Sutton. Survivors include: granddaughters, Carmen Anderson of Port Salerno, FL and Carla Washington of Port St. Lucie, FL; 3 great-grandchildren, Denzel Leroy Washington of Port St. Lucie, FL, Bria Anderson of Port Salerno, FL, and Kayah Delancy of Port St. Lucie, FL; goddaughter, Alexia Ausby of Orlando, FL; and a host of other relatives including, nieces, nephews, and cousins (including Hazel Green (Frank-deceased), church family, neighbors and dear friends including Rosa Ausby, Gloria Dover and Celestine Fordham who will miss her dearly. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church from 5PM-7PM. A celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, April 25, 2015 at Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church 904 SE Bayou Ave.-Stuart, FL, at 10am. Burial will follow at Fernhill Memorial Gardens 1501 South Kanner Highway Stuart, FL 34994. Repast will follow at The Pittenger Center at St. Mary's 701 SE Ocean Blvd. Stuart, FL 34994. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart.
