Obituary for Lovella Ferguson Garrett

Lovella M. Ferguson Garrett, 63 of Miami Gardens, FL and formerly of Hobe Sound, FL, died at Jackson Memorial Hospital-North in Miami, FL. She was born in Stuart, FL to the late Eugene Ferguson, Sr. and Leona Haslom Ferguson of Hobe Sound. Lovella was educated in the public schools of Martin County, FL including Murray Jr.-Sr. High of Port Salerno, FL and was the first class to graduate from that school in the Class of 1965. She was employed at Montanari Clinical School for 20 years, working with children with disabilities. She was a loving wife to the late Anthony "Tony" Garrett, a loving mother, devoted grandmother, a caring daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend. She was a member of New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church at an early age and upon moving to Miami, Lovella became a member of Opa Locka Baptist Church in Opa Locka, FL. Along with her father, Eugene Ferguson, Sr. and her husband, Anthony "Tony" Garrett, she was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Eugene Ferguson, Jr. and Patrick Ferguson; 2 sisters, Olivia Lovely and Yvonne Bell; 4 aunts and 6 uncles. Surviving to cherish her precious memories are her loving children: a son, Oliver Boseman, Jr; daughters, Carla Ferguson, Shawn Ferguson, Lakira Garrett, Demetrice French (Christian), Wendy Garrett and Adrian Garrett, all of Miami, FL; her devoted mother, Leona Ferguson of Hobe Sound, FL; 7 grandchildren; brothers, Dr. Lorenzo Ferguson(Diane) of West Bloomfield, MI, Christopher Ferguson of Hobe Sound, FL, and Mark Ferguson (Olga) of Hialeah, FL; sisters, Margaret McHardy (Richard) of Stuart, FL, Edna Fields (John Willie), Betty Dixon (Anthony) and Suzette Searcy (Ronald), all of Miami, FL and Cathy Louis (Banave) of Lake Worth, FL; goddaughters, Linda and Jasmine Cannady of Miami, FL; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services: A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at 11:00am, at New Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Hobe Sound, FL with the pastor, Reverend David George officiating.
