Obituary for Leonard Edward Harkness

Leonard Edward Harkness , 63 of Indiantown, FL passed away at Martin Memorial Health Systems-North in Stuart, FL. He was born to the parents of the late Ola Harkness and the late Alberta Hill Harkness in Stuart, FL on June 22, 1953.   He was educated in the public schools of Martin County and graduated from Martin County High School. Prior to becoming disabled, he was gainfully employed as an equestrian caretaker/groomer of horses. Leonard was married to Rosa Jones Harkness and before moving to Indiantown they lived in Orlando, FL. Along with his parents Ola and Alberta Harkness, he was also preceded in death by: a stepdaughter, Erica Young; sister, Mary Williams; brother-in-law, Roosevelt Duncan, Jr.; stepmother, Idella G. Harkness; and paternal grandparents, David and Doran Goins. He leaves behind to always cherish his precious memories: his wife , Rosa Jones Harkness of Orlando, FL; daughter , Lashunda Davila of Tampa, FL; stepdaughter , Lahoma Young of Orlando, FL;  2 brothers , Tony Harkness of Douglasville, GA and Earl Fayson (Claudia) of Orlando, FL;  6 sisters , Ola Harkness Duncan of Indiantown, FL, Diane Moore (Calvin King) of Fort Pierce, FL, Daisy Webb (Curtis) of Spartansburg, SC, Fernanda Brownlee of Savannah, GA, Pamela Stanley of Nevils, GA and Caroline Edwards (Thomas) of Fayetteville, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, including 2 special cousins, Lucretia Rodgers of Jamaica, NY and Coreatha Dotson (James) of Indiantown, FL; other relatives, in-laws and friends. Services : Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 10am-11am at the Family Worship Center, 15285 SW Indian Mound Dr. - Indiantown, FL 34956.  A celebration of life will begin 11am at the church with Pastor Ardis Jackson officiating, Pastor Wanda Grooms presiding and Reverend Bruce Butler is host pastor.  Burial will follow at Port Mayaca Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart.
