Obituary for Leonard Gregory Geddes Sr. Deacon

Leonard Gregory Geddes, Sr., 52, of Stuart, FL went home to be with the Lord in Miami, FL at University of Miami Hospital. He was born in Jacksonville, FL to the parentage of the late Fred Geddes, Sr. and Clara Brown-Geddes. He was educated in the public schools of Duval County in Jacksonville. In the 1980's he moved to Martin County. Leonard was a member of Soaring Faith Ministries in Jensen Beach, FL under the leadership of Bishop Larry G. Bender. There he served faithfully as: the pastor's amour bearer, senior deacon; chairman of the deacon's board; assistant Sunday school teacher and a church trustee. Deacon Geddes worked for a local furniture store and newspaper establishment. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by his siblings, Frank Geddes, Fred Geddes, Jr., Veronica Geddes and Cassandra Miller. Surviving to cherish his precious memories are: a loving and devoted wife, Dena L. Geddes (nee Ferguson) of Stuart, FL; 3 caring sons, Leonard Geddes, Jr. (Cindy) of Newton, NC, Derrick Dobson (Danielle) of Davidson, NC and Gary Mosley of Port Salerno, FL; 3 loving daughters, Michelle Simms (Corey) of Jacksonville, FL, Sabrina Geddes of Orlando, FL and Monique J. Dobson of Stuart, FL; brothers and sisters; 9 granchildren; 3 brothers, Kenneth Geddes of Redmond, WA, Warren Geddes of Chattanooga, TN and David Geddes of Jacksonville, FL; 5 sisters, Wilma Brooker of Jacksonville, FL, Harriett Norman of Atlanta, GA, his twin sister, Leonette Geddes of Jacksonville, FL, Paulette Fernandez of Raleigh, NC and Carol Johnson of Atlanta, GA; nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives including in-laws, dedicated church family and friends. Deacon Leonard Gregory Geddes, Sr. will always be remembered for his flamboyant sense of style, his unselfish willingness to help and support others, his love and devotion to God and his church, along with an infectious smile that would brighten up any day. Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 4pm-6pm at Soaring Faith Ministries, 2110 NE Arch Street, Jensen Beach, FL. A Homegoing Celebration will be observed on Sunday, March 7, 2010, 11:00am at the church with Bishop Larry G. Bender, officiating. Burial will be private.
