Lelia Mae Blackmon of Wabasso, FL passed away peacefully at Avante at Melbourne in Melbourne, FL. She was born in Dothan, AL to the parents of the late Mathis and Rosa Mae Blackmon on November 23, 1958. She attended the public schools of Dothan and moved to Florida with her family at an early age. During her lifetime she was employed in housekeeping for area hotels. Leila was a former member of Upper Room Holiness Unto the Lord Church in Wabasso. She leaves to cherish precious memories: 3 children, Michael Blackmon of Orlando, FL, Brandon Debose of Dunnellon, FL and Tameka Blackmon of Gainesville, FL; 4 brothers, Bishop Joe Blackmon(Janice) and Johnny Blackmon (Gussie) both of Melbourne, FL, Jack Blackmon and Jim Blackmon of Dothan, AL; 1 sister, Reba Douglas of Wabasso, FL; 11grandchildren; and a host of cousins other relatives and friends. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 from 5pm-7pm at the Wabasso Church of God. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018, 2:00pm at the church with the pastor Bishop John A. Thorne officiating. Burial will follow at West Wabasso Cemetery in Wabasso, FL. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
