Obituary for Julia Lee Hamilton McGraw Mother

Mother Julia Lee Hamilton McGraw, 74, went home to forever be with the Lord at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Palm Beach Gardens, FL at 8:05 am. She was born in Swift Water, MS to the parentage of Reverend Joseph Hamilton, Sr. and Mamie Thornton Hamilton. Julia was educated in the public schools of Mississippi. After moving to Chicago, IL she joined Holy Temple Missionary Baptist Church where she served on the Usher Board, was Vice/Pres. of the choir and church secretary. She also worshipped at Prayer Band General Assembly in Chicago. She became a member of the Jupiter Church of God after relocating to Jupiter, FL under the leadership of bishop John A. Thorne. She served the church faithfully as a Sunday school teacher, member of the Mission Board, Missionary, Evangelist, a member of Women's Ministries, a Girl's Club Prayer Mother and was the Mother of the Church. She was preceded on death by her parents, Reverend Joseph Hamilton, Sr. and Mamie Thornton Hamilton; husband, David Anthony McGraw; brother, Joseph Hamilton, Jr.; and sisters, Katie Mae Hunter, Lee Ethel Summerville and Evelyn Gladney. Surviving to cherish her precious memories are: 5 daughters, Renee Hangs, W.P.B., FL, Gayle Banks (Kevin), Park Forest, IL, Nina Michell Mcgraw-Gibson (Jimmie), Rosiland McGraw-Eastman (Frederick), and Tiffany Willison, all of W.P.B., FL; a sister, Lessree Summerville, Jupiter, FL; 2 brothers, Alee Hamilton (Lula), Shaker Heights, OH and Shield H. Thomas (Judy), St. Louis, MO; 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, church family and friends. Services: Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 20, 2010 from 3pm-4pm at the Jupiter Church of god in Jupiter, FL. A homegoing celebration will begin 4pm at the church with Bishop John A. Thorne, officiating. Burial will follow in Homewood Memorial Gardens in Homewood, IL. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL. Out of town arrangements are by A.A. Rayner & Sons, Funeral Home in Chicago, IL. Please sign the guest book.
