Obituary for Johnnie Pearl Washington- Jackson Mother

Mother Johnnie Pearl Washington-Jackson, an 80 year old resident of Port Salerno, Florida, peacefully went home to be with her Lord and Savior on October 28, 2009 at Treasure Coast Hospices/Harper House in Stuart, Florida. She was born in Lake City, South Carolina to the parents of the late George Washington, Sr. and the late Sally Frierson-Washington. As an infant, she moved to Martin County, Florida with her family. She was educated in the public schools of Martin County and attended Stuart Training School. She was employed as a certified nursing assistant for private homes. At her demise she was a member of the Port Salerno Church of God and a former member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Christ also in Port Salerno. She labored in the vineyard as a teacher, evangelist, missionary, and an encourager of the brethren. Martin County and abroard will certainly miss this "True Woman of God." Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Jackson and brothers, Frank, James, Ernest and Larry Washington. Survivors include: a son, Calvin Jackson of Stuart, FL; 3 daughters, Ernestine Hunter (Billy) of Port Salerno, Chatelle Rucker of Clearwater, FL and Delores Cobb of Port Salerno; 2 brothers, Leroy Washington (Mantha) of Stuart, FL and George Washington, Jr. (Marilyn) of Port Salerno; 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-laws, Lena Mae Washington, Carrie Washington and Dorothy Washington; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, in-laws, church family and friends. Services: Visitation will be held at the Port Salerno Church of God on Cove Road, Friday, November 6, 2009 from 4pm-7pm. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 11:00am at the church. Burial will follow at New Monrovia Cemetery in Port Salerno. Arrangements have been entrused into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart. Please sign the guest book.
