Obituary for John W. Curry Sr. Mr.

John Will Curry, Sr., 86 of Stuart, FL, went home to be with the Lord at Martin Memorial Hospital-South, on August 4, 2014. John was born to the late Willie S. Bynes of Cocoa, FL. He moved to Stuart in his early childhood years and was raised by his aunt and uncle, the late Fred and Maggie Thompson. Most of his family and friends called him either "Johnnie or JC." Before retirement, he worked for the City of Stuart for 25 years, retiring on September 25, 1989. That was his "day job." JC had a great love and awesome skills of cooking the best barbeque anywhere to be found. He used these culinary skills and shared with the community and especially in support of food services provided by Mount Calvary Baptist Church at Martin County*s Annual Fair. The meals would be sold out, before he could deliver the meats. He also had excellent auto mechanic skills, better than most certified professionals. He joined Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Rev. Grant. Johnny was married to Alice Albritton Curry for 36 years, prior to her death in July 2001. Since that time, JC has been cared for by Grace Albritton (Alexandria, VA), his sister-in-law and Roseita Dickerson (Stuart, FL). He resided at Salerno Bay Manor from July 2009 until the time of his death. He had two children from a previous marriage: Annette Curry Jackson (Brandon, FL) and John Will Curry, Jr. (Milledgeville, GA). He also leaves to mourn his godchildren, Deria Dickerson and Oscar Delancy, nieces and nephews and other friends in the community and neighborhood. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, August 8, 2014 from 5pm-7pm at Thorne's Mortuary Chapel. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2014 at 11am, at the Chapel with the Rev. Elker L. Harris, officiating. Burial will follow at Fernhill Memorial Cemetery, in Stuart, FL. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart.
