Obituary for Jennie Lou Chance

Jennie Lou Chance, 95 a well known resident of Hobe sound, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 19, 2017 at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, FL.  She was born on September 21, 1921 in Marshallville, GA to the parents of the late Isiah Parker and the late Carrie Lou Felton. She went to school in Macon County, GA. After moving to Hobe Sound, FL she was employed as a domestic worker for homes on Jupiter Island.  She was a member of New Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Hobe Sound where she served as president of the Missionary Society and was the church mother.  "Ma Jennie", as she was affectionately known, was a hard working  person and a mother to many.  She possessed a heart of gold always helping anyone that needed assistance. Ma Jennie truly loved the Lord, her family and her church.  She was an excellent cook who could prepare mouth-watering southern dishes of any kind. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by: her husband, Oliver Chance; a son, Eddie Watkins; grandson, Michael Chance; a brother, T. Brown; and her grandmother who raised her, J.D. Jones. Surviving to cherish her precious memories and celebrate her homegoing are: a son, Robert Chance of Waynesboro, GA; 6 daughters, Jada Carter of Hobe Sound, FL,  Wynette Chance of Port St. Lucie, FL, Val Gibson (Nate) of Port Salerno, FL, Sue Mack (Willie)  and Joann Chance both of Waynesboro, GA,  and Jennie Wesley (Albert) of Port St Lucie, FL; a brother, Samuel Brown (Sue) of New London, CT; and one sister, Tiny McClain of Hobe Sound, FL; 21 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives including nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at Thorne's Mortuary Chapel in Stuart.  A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at 11am, New Mount Zion MBC in Hobe Sound- 8224 SE Pettway Street, Hobe Sound  33455.  She will await the resurrection at Florida Memorial Cemetery in Hobe Sound (formerly Banner Lake Cemetery). Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
