Obituary for J.C. Gibson Sr Mr.

Mr. J.C. Gibson, Sr., a prominent resident of Fort Pierce, FL, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 08, 2014 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce. He was born to the loving parents of Fletcher and Minnie Gibson (both preceded him in death) in Moultrie, GA. Mr. Gibson was educated in the public schools of Morehaven. He moved to St. Lucie, County 80 years ago. Before retirement he was gainfully employed as sexton for the First Presbyterian Church for over 40 years. He was a member of New Mount Zion MBC, where he served as Chairman of the Church and Trustee boards, a member of the City Wide Prayer Band, Coordinator and Founder of the Mother Bernice Gibson Scholarship Foundation, and Founder of the JC Mission of Hope Presbyterian. He later met and married Rosa Vickers. On August 08, 2014, our heavenly Father peacefully and gently called him home to rest. Along with his parents and his first wife, Bernice Gibson; sons, Willie Eugene Gibson and Donald Nelson Gibson, a son, Alonzo Gibson and his second wife, Rosa Vickers preceded him in death. Leaving behind to mourn his memory as well as celebrate his homegoing are: 2 sons, James C. Gibson, Jr. and Freddie Gibson (Mary) both of Fort Pierce, FL; daughters, Shirley Gibson and Dianne Gibson both of Fort Pierce, FL and Bernice Tynes (Vernon) of Vero Beach, FL; 17 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren, great-great, grandchildren, great-great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family and friends. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, August 15, 2014 from 4pm-7pm at New Mt. Zion MBC in Fort Pierce, FL. A wake service will be held from 7pm-8pm at the church. On Saturday, August 16, 2014, a homegoing celebration will be held at Immanuel Full Gospel Baptist Church in Fort Pierce, FL at 12 noon. Mr. Gibson will await the resurrection at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Fort Pierce, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the Mother Bernice Gibson Scholarship Foundation, P. O. 3272 - Fort Pierce, FL (772) 940-9673. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
