Obituary for James Henry Shephard Sr.

James Henry Shephard, Sr., 79 of Vero Beach, FL passed away at VNA Hospice in Vero Beach. He was born in Humboldt, Tennessee to the parents of the late James and Ora Shephard. During his life time he worked at Alton Box Factory in Tennessee, the Chicago Illinois Railroad and was a machine operator for Lindsey Citrus in Indian River County. James was a member of Community Missionary Baptist Church in Vero where he served as a member of the Senior Choir and a member of the Deacon Board. Along with his parents, he was also preceeded in death by: a son, Jimmy Guyton; 5 brothers, Leon Tate, Willie James Tate, Willie Tate, Gary Tate and Wilbert Shephard; and 5 sisters, Alice Mae Shephard, Ora Lee Waldlow, Lizzie Mae Smith, Glenzella Shephard-Gooch, and Era Mae Stewart. Left to recall his precious memories are: his loving and devoted wife, Vera James Shephard of Vero Beach, Florida; 6 daughters, Rose (Johnny) Williamson of Humboldt, Tenessee, Gwendolyn (Timothy)Shephard-Hobbs of Wilmington, North Carolina, Shirlinda (Donlee) Williams of St. Louis, Missouri, Octavia Treatt of Memphis, Tennessee, Pamela (Michael) Robinson of Vero Beach, FL, Tiffany (Rhashan) Walker of Savannah, Georgia; 3 sons, Wilbert (Sherby) Shephard of Vero Beach, FL, Donald (Doris) Guyton of Bellville, Tennessee, and James Henry (Skyler) Shephard, Jr., of Jackson, Tennessee; 3 sisters, Vera (Eddie) Williams, Lillie Williams and Patsy Tate, all of Humboldt, Tennessee, 4 brothers, Henry (Wanda) Tate, Harold Tate, Billy Wayne (Debra) Tate, and Curtis Tate, all of Humboldt, Tennessee; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 4 god- children, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, church family, neighbors and friends who will dearly miss him. Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2016 from 1:30pm-2:30pm at the Wabasso Church of God in Wabasso, Florida. A Home Going Celebration will begin 2:300pm at the church with Pastor Clifford Warren Eulogist, Bishop Willie Lochart, Presiding and Bishop John A. Thorne, Host Pastor. He will await the resurrection at West Wabasso Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary.
