Obituary for Hersey Leo Jackson

Hersey Leo Jackson, 86, a resident of Hobe Sound, passed away at Treasure Coast Hospice in Stuart, FL on Thursday, February 04, 2016. He was born in Samford, FL to the parents of the late Harry Jackson and the late Bertha McClain Jackson. Hersey was the last surviving child born to this union. Hersey moved to Martin County in 1951 from Samford, FL. He served in the United States Army and fought in the Korean Conflict. After service to his country, he received an honorable discharge. Hersey was self employed in lawn maintenance. Along with his parents, he was also preceded in death by a sons, Altolane Jackson, Sr. and Clifford Jackson; and all of his siblings, including 3 brothers, Clarence Jackson, Eddie Jackson and Henry Jackson; and a sister, Bertha Berrian (Rev. Joseph Berrian, Sr. also deceased). Left behind to cherish precious memories are: his wife, Dessie Mae Jackson of Hobe Sound, FL; 4 sons, Hersey Leo Jackson, Jr. of Hobe Sound, FL, Lawrence Jackson (Lorie) of Port Salerno, FL, Anthony Leo Jackson (Cathy) and Gregory Howard, both of Hobe Sound, FL; 4 daughters Bertha Jackson of Hobe Sound, FL, Dorothy Williams (Wilbur) of Port St. Lucie, FL, Delores Jackson-Johnson and, Elana Jackson both of West Palm Beach, FL; 30 grandchildren, 63 great-grand children, 14 great-great-grandchildren; his canine son and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends. Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2016 from 10am until 11am at New Allen Temple A.M.E. Church in Hobe Sound, FL. A celebration of life will begin at 11am with Pastor Elker L. Harris officiating. Burial will follow at Florida Memorial Cemetery (Banner Lake) in Hobe Sound. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
