Obituary for Garry Montedz "Kool-Aid" Chambliss Deputy

Deputy Garry Montedz "Kool-Aid" Chambliss, 50 yrs. old, of Gifford, FL, passed away at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach, FL.  He was born to the parents of William Woolfork and the late Ellen Chambliss on February 17, 1967 in Vero Beach, FL.  He attended public school in Indian River County and graduated from Vero Beach High in the Class of 1986. Garry affectionately known as "Kool-Aid", was employed at the Indian River County Sheriff's Office, for 28 1/2 years where he worked as a correction's officer, in uniform patrol and transportation. Along with his mother, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Russell Woolfork, his maternal grandmother, Ethel Lee Chambliss and a sister, Denise Lyons. He is lovingly survived by: two daughters, Briyunna and Deja Chambliss of Sebastian, FL; his father, William Woolfork (Claudia) of Gifford, FL; five brothers, Steve Chambliss (Vohondra) of Vero Beach, FL, Patrick Woolfork of Britol, PA, Alonso Woolfork and Victor Woolfork of Gifford, FL and Sidney Woolfork (Ina) of Wildwood, FL; the mother of his children, Demetrius Harris of Sebastian; godchildren, Reginald Penny, Jr., Tyler  Penny, Tykiedra Green and India Penny of Atlanta, GA, and Kimeria Colley of Vero Beach, FL; nieces and nephews, Shanarial Hart, Ebony Hart, Courtney Chambliss, Kia Chambliss, Leah Jenkins, Kamaree Lyons, and Eva Chambliss, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends who will dearly miss him. Services:  Visitation will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at the Wabasso Church of God, 8710 64th Avenue, Wabasso, FL. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, February 25, 2017, 11am at the Central Assembly of God Church, 6767 20th Street, Vero Beach, FL  32966.  Burial will follow at the Gifford Cemetery on 49th Street in Gifford, FL.  "Kool-Aid", Forever in Our Hearts! Internet. . . Indian River County, FL – An off-duty Indian River Corrections Deputy, Garry Chambliss, was shot and killed on Friday night. According to The Miami Herald, the incident occurred about 9:30 PM in the Gifford area of Vero Beach. Indian River County Deputies responded to a shooting call and found Deputy Chambliss with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to the Indian River Medical Center, where he died. In a statement, Indian River County Sheriff Deryl Loar said, “This is a tragic day for the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office. We are actively investigating this homicide as we face the difficult reality of losing one of our own to violence.” He also said “Please pray for the family of Deputy Garry Chambliss and everyone at the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office during this difficult time.” Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
