Obituary for Eva L. Coleman

Eva L. Coleman 82, a resident of Stuart, FL and former resident of Port Salerno, FL  passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by the love and tears of her family on Sunday, November 20, 2016. She was born in Elba, AL (Coffee County) to the parents of the late Gene Cole and the late Ola Mincey Cole on November 26, 1933.  She was educated in the public schools of Coffee County. In her younger years she was employed at a poultry factory and also worked as a domestic caretaker.  In the year of 2000 she moved to Martin County, Florida from Troy, AL.  Eva was of the African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) faith. She will be remembered by her family and those who knew her best as a hard working person who truly loved her family  and would also help anyone that she could if needed. Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Thomas Coleman; a son, Thomas Robert and several of her siblings. She is lovingly survived by: 3 sons , Eddie Coleman, Floyd Coleman (Faith), and Rossco Coleman (Nova), all of Stuart, FL; 7 daughters , Mary Jones of Montgomery, AL, Virginia V. Johnson and Carolyn Maldonado of Port St. Lucie, FL,  Charlene Coleman, Dorothy Tiu of Stuart, FL, and Addie Coleman, all of Stuart, FL and Tricia Vaughn (Listle) of Troy, AL; 27 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Nathaniel Cole and Monroe Cole of South Carolina;  3 sisters , Pearl Cole of Elba, AL, Ruth Singleton of Atlanta, GA and Peggy Tillis of Brantley, AL; her feline companion, "Kitty" Coleman (who she dearly loved); and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins in-laws, and friends. Services:  Visitation will be held on Friday, November 25, 2016 from 4pm-6pm at Thorne's Mortuary Chapel and on Monday evening from 6pm-7pm at Coleman Funeral Home, 2100 Hickman Avenue in Elba, AL.  (334) 897-2705.  A homegoing celebration will be held at Shady Grove A.M.E. Church in Elba, AL on Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at 1:00pm.  She will await the resurrection at Shady Grove A.M.E. Church Cemetery in Elba, AL. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL and Coleman Funeral Home in Elba, AL.
