Ethel Lee Chambliss Thomas, 89 of Vero Beach, FL went home to be with the Lord on January 22, 2009 at her residence, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born in Abi, GA to the late Abe Bryant and the late Rosa Lee Cobb Bryant. Ms. Thomas had been a resident of Vero Beach for over 60yrs. moving from Georgia. She was married to Fred Chambliss who preceded her in death. To this union, 13 children were born. Ms. Thomas was blessed to have found love again after the death of Fred, then she later married Jimmy Lee Thomas who also preceded her in death. Before retirement, she was employed as a domestic worker for area private homes. She was a faithful member of Davis Temple Church of God in Christ, in Gifford, FL until her health began to fail. Along with her parents and husbands, she was also preceded in death by 2 daughters, Rosa Lee and Ellen E. Chambliss; 2 sons, Curtis Lee Chambliss, Sr. and Nathan Chambliss; 4 grandchildren, Carla, Sharon, Charles and Charlie. Fond and loving memories will forever remain in the hearts of: her loving daughters, Pearlie Mae Walker of Guin, AL, Mary Scott (Larry), Vender Williams (Greg) of Fort Valley, GA, Delores Monts (Willie) Vergie Spikes (Keith), and Keylom Maycock, all of Gifford, FL; her loving sons, Fred Chambliss, Jr. (Diane) of Gainesville, FL, Johnny Chambliss (Mary), and Michael Chambliss (Vanessa) of Gifford, FL; 35 precious grandchildren, and 22 adorable great-grandchildren; a very special sister and sister-in-law, Ethel Mae Chambliss; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends including 2 very special close friends, Sis. Jessie Streeter and Mrs. Viola Thomas. Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2009 from 11:30am-1:30pm at New Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Gifford. A "Home Going Celebration" will begin at 1:30pm at the church. Reverend Benny Rhyant is the host pastor and Pastor Willie Chambliss of Power, Praise & Deliverance Church in Orlando, FL will officiate. Burial will follow at Gifford Cemetery in Gifford, FL. Thorne's Mortuary, Inc. of Stuart is in charge of arrangements.
