Obituary for Ethel Priscilla Epps

Ethel Priscilla Epps, 87 a resident of Hobe Sound, FL went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at Martin Memorial Hospital-South in Stuart, FL. She was born in King Street, SC to the parents of the late Sampson "Willie" Redden and Sarah Gamble-Redden. She was educated in the public schools of Williamsburg County, SC. At the age of twenty, she moved to Martin County, FL. Ms. Epps was a member of Peaceful Valley C.M.E. Church in Hobe Sound, FL, and served as a missionary and mother of the church. Before her retirement, she was self employed in child care and also worked for private homes on Jupiter Island in Hobe Sound. Along with her parents, Mother Epps was also preceded in death by her husband, John Turner Epps, Sr.; and three children, Clarence Epps, Ernestine Mosely and Florence Epps. Survivors include; 2 sons, John Nathaniel Epps (Brenda) of Montgomery, AL and Carl Epps (Pearl) of Orlando, FL; 5 daughters, Mary Ann Courson (Lawrence) of New Haven, CT, Careatha White of Hobe Sound, Sarah J. Watson (Charles) of Jensen Beach, FL, Ethel Mae Walton (Luther) of Bridgeport, CT and Delores Jones of Jacksonville, FL; 27 grandchildren including a special granddaughter, Karen White of Hobe Sound; several generations of great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, other in-laws, caring friends, church family and a host of children, now adults that she has cared for down through the years. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, November 20, 2009 at Peaceful Valley C.M.E. Church in Hobe Sound from 4pm-6pm. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, November 21, 2009, 11:00am at New Allen Temple A.M.E. Church in Hobe Sound. Reverend James C. Allen, pastor of Peaceful C.M.E. Church will be officiating and Reverned I.S. Mitchell is host pastor. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary of Stuart. Burial will follow at Banner Lake Cemetery, Hobe Sound. Please sign the guest book.
