Obituary for Ella Mae King

Ms. Ella Mae King, a 91 year old resident of Gifford, FL went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, May 4, 2011 at VNA Hospice House in Vero Beach, FL. She was born in Alamo, GA to the parents of the late Arthur Lee Johnson and the late Sadie Frances Harris-Johnson. Ella was educated in the public schools of Wheeler County, GA and moved to Indian River county from, Waycross, GA in 1962. Ms. King was a long-time member of Northside Agape' Ministries Church of God in Gifford, FL where she served as a church mother, choir member and vice-president of noonday prayer. Before retirement she was employed as a homemaker. Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert King, Sr.; 2 sons, Norman King and Robert King, Jr.; a daughter, Daisy Owens; grandson, David King; great-granddaughter, Laquandra Wheeler; and a great-great-granddaughter, Keyonta Holmes. Survivors include: 4 sons, Simmie King (Mary)), Leon King and Willie James King (Sherina), all of Vero Beach, FL and Billy Ray King of Kansas City, MO; 7 daughters, Mae Reatha Tomlin, Pearl Parker (Robert), Evelyn Parker (Jesse), Ida Mae Dawson, Carolyn Ross (Robert), Dorothy Ervin (Ollice) and Mary King, all of Vero Beach, FL; a brother, Arthur Lee Johnson, Jr. of Hazlehurst, GA; 2 sisters, Rosa Lee Fisher and Bertha Mae Jackson of Hazlehurst, GA; 61 grandchildren, 126, great-grandchildren and 30 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Jannie King; god-daughters, Margaret Thornton and Willie Bell Henry and godson, Cory Brown. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at Northside Agape' Ministries Church of God in Gifford, from 4pm-7pm. A Homegoing Celebration will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2011 at New Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Gifford at 10am. Burial will follow at Gifford Cemetery.
