On October 28, 1930, in the town of Quincy, Florida, an adorable baby girl was born to the parents of the late J. D. Cox and the late Elsie Conn-Cox. They named their blessing from God, “Elise Lee”. Elise attended the public schools of Gadsden County, Florida and was of the Baptist faith. During her life time she was a self-employed beautician and also worked in the agriculture industry. She resided in Quincy, Florida with her husband, Gilbert and after her health began to fail she moved to Wabasso, Florida to be cared for by her daughter, Rosa and others. On January 14, 2011, she quietly departed this life while surrounded by the love of her family. Along with her parents, Elise was also preceded in death by 2 sons, John Thomas and Bradshaw Knight. She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her husband, Gilbert Knight of Quincy, FL; 4 sons, Willie Cox (Lorie) of Gifford, FL, Hubert Cox (Josephine) of Jacksonville, FL, Elijah Knight (Edna) of Gretna, FL, and Ronnie Knight of Quincy, FL; 7 daughters, Rosa M. Stinson of Wabasso, FL, Linda Smith (Earl) of Jacksonville, FL, Catherine Ealy (Samuel) of Wabasso, FL, Brenda Knight of Tallahassee, FL, Abigail Jones of Sebastian, FL, Jennie Knight of Tallahassee, FL and Dora Mosley (Fredrick) of Panama City, FL; 33 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; 2 godchildren; and a host of other relatives including nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends who will dearly miss her. Services: Private visitation will be on Wednesday, January 18, 2011 for the family at the Wabasso Church of God. A home going celebration will be held in Quincy, FL at First Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 2:00pm, with the Reverend Perry Robinson officiating and the Reverend Kevin Williams is pastor. Burial will follow at Sunnyvale Cemetery in Quincy, FL. Thorne's Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements and Bradwell Mortuary is in charge of out of town arrangements.
