Obituary for Eddie Lewis Davis Sr.

Eddie Lewis Davis, Sr., a 47 year old resident of Port St. Lucie, FL died at Saint Lucie Medical Center in Port St. Lucie. He was born to the parents of the late Lee Jessie Jackson and Mattie Mae Dixon-Davis in Stuart, FL. He was educated in the public schools of Martin County, Florida. He attended Martin County High School then completed his education after joining the United States Army. Eddie enlisted into the United States Army on July 28, 1981 and was honorably discharged on February 27, 1998 after achieving the rank of sergeant. He received many decorations, medals, badges, citations and campaign ribbons including: the Army Commendation and Achievement Medal (2nd Award), Good Conduct Medal (4th Award), National Defense Medal, Southeast Asia Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars (BSS), Noncommissioned Officer's Professional development Ribbon with Number 2 Army Service Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Kuwait Liberation Medal (Kingdom) and the Expert Marksmanship Qualification Badge with Rifle Bar. Survivors include: his wife, Cynthia Davis of LaGrange, GA; sons, Eddie Jr., Jo-Nathon and Xavier Davis of Stuart, FL, Deondre and Eddrick Davis of Port St. Lucie; daughters, Chaquetta Davis of Stuart and FaTasha Hall of Fort Pierce, FL; goddaughter, Brionna Williams of Anniston, AL; grandchildren, Eddie Jr., III, Destiny, Shakaiyah, Nadia, Quaveon, Xavion and Shaniya Davis, Aalonna Williams of Stuart and Raynesha Campbell of Fort Pierce; a loving and devoted mother, Mattie Davis of Stuart; brothers, Alfred (Willie Mae) Davis of Chesapeake, VA, Rubin, Lawrence, Larry, and John Davis all of Stuart; sisters, Beretha Davis of Carol City, FL, Ocella Davis, Bridget (Gene) Freeman of Port St. Lucie and Selena Davis-Nichols of Stuart; uncles, Robert Potts of Jensen Beach, FL and Johnny "Frank" Hunter of Stuart; aunts, Barbara Potts of Sanford, FL and Sadie Jackson of Stuart; a devoted friend, Marilyn Hooks of Port St. Lucie; and a host of other relatives and sorrowing friends. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, May 1, 2009 from 4pm-7pm at Thorne's Mortuary Chapel. "A Celebration of Life", with Military Honors will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2009, 11:00am at Saint Paul A.M.E. Church in Stuart, the Reverend James C. Watson is host pastor and Bishop Larry G. Bender, pastor of Cathedral of Praise Church of God in Jensen Beach is officiating. Cremation will follow. Thorne's Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
