Obituary for Dorothy Jean Green-Jones First Lady

On February 12, 2012 in the early morning hours, the heavenly host rejoiced as First Lady Dorothy Jones, 55, the loving and devoted wife of Bishop Bennie Jones, Sr. of Port St. Lucie, FL (and formerly of Palm Beach County), peacefully departed this life in the comfort of her home, and crossed over the portals of paradise. She was born in Americus, GA to the parents of Charles Green, Sr. and Mattie Ruth Hill-Green. In 1959, she moved to Riviera Beach, FL with her family. She was educated in the public schools of Palm Beach County and graduated from Suncoast High School in the class of 1975. Dorothy received an Associate Degree in Electronics Technology in 1996, from New England Institute of Technology and a Bachelor of Science Degree with a Major in Legal Studies from Barry University in 2004. She also attended Lynn University in Boca Raton, FL as well as Bethune Cookman University in Daytona Beach, FL. Dorothy was gainfully employed with the City of Riviera Beach as a payroll technician. Lady Jones partnered with her husband in ministry and worked lovingly, relentlessly and untiringly by his side in the Church of God Florida/Cocoa Office in churches located in: Immokalee, FL, Riviera Beach, FL, Jensen Beach, FL, Hobe Sound, FL and presently at Church of The Second Chance Ministries in Stuart, FL. She was so happy and excited about how the Lord was blessing the ministry there in such a short period of time. She was the Woman's Ministries /Women's Discipleship President at the aforementioned churches and worked basically in EVERY department of the church. She will be remembered by those who knew her and loved her best, with those big beautiful eyes and a smile that would brighten up your darkest day as: "A Woman of Excellence", " A Peace Maker", A Peace Keeper", "A True Friend", " An Intercessor", "A Prayer Warrior", and most of all, "A Loving Wife', "A Devoted Mother", "A Nurturing Grandmother", "A Lady". She was preceded in death by: her mother, Mattie Ruth Green; 3 grandsons, (twins), Javis and Janorris Jones and Mekai Akien. Surviving to mourn her transition and celebrate her homegoing: a devoted husband, Bishop Bennie Jones, Sr. of Port St.Lucie, FL; a dear son, Bennie Jones, Jr. of Riviera Beach, FL; loving daughters, Kartisa Mosley (John), Latoska Jones and Toekeyshia Ward, all of Riviera Beach, FL; 3 endearing grandchildren; her father, Charles Green, Jr. (Almeter) of Riviera Beach, FL; 2 sisters, Elizabeth Trowell (Robert) of Port St. Lucie, FL and Denise Floyd (Alzen, Jr.) of Riviera Beach, FL; a brother, Charles Green, Jr. (Susie) of Silverdale, WA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a plethora of friends and church family. Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2012 from 9:30am-11:00am at the Blue Heron Church of God in Riviera Beach, FL. A Homegoing Celebration of Life will begin promptly at 11:00am. Interment and Dove Release will be held at Royal Palm Memorial Gardens in Riviera Beach.
