Obituary for Donica Athena Smith

Miss Donica Athena Smith, 31 of Port St. Lucie, FL went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 10, 2016 at Lawnwood Regional Medical Center in Fort Pierce, FL. She was born in Kingston, Jamaica to the parents of Donovan Smith and Sharon Miller. Her primary and secondary education was completed in the United States. Donica was a faithful member of First Community Church of God in Port St. Lucie where she served as Youth Leader and was a member of the Praise and Worship Team. Donica was gainfully employed as caregiver in the social work industry. She leaves behind to mourn her passing as well as celebrate her home going: her devoted mother, Sharon Miller of Oak Creek, WI and her loving father, Donovan Smith of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; siblings, Tracy Bartley, Donika Smith, Donovan Smith, Jr., Dadrie Smith, Doneique Smith, and Danielle Smith; maternal grandparents, Vashti and Albert Miller of Port St. Lucie, FL; nieces, nephews; a host of cousins, church family, neighbors, co-workers and friends who will miss her effervescent personality coupled with a smile that would brighten up your darkest day. Donica was always willing to assist anyone who needed her help without predjudice. Everything that she did came from a pure heart and all of the love that she could muster up even if it meant putting herself and her needs on "the back burner." Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 from 9am-10:00am at Ministerio Jesucristo es el Camino, 6534 NW Selvitz Road (next door to her church, First Community Church of God. A Home Going Service will begin 10:00am at the church with her pastor, Andrew McDonald officiating. Burial will follow at Rolling Oaks Cemetery in Port St. Lucie, FL, 2200 SW Del Rio Blvd. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
