Obituary for Delorse Frazier McGahee

On July 9, 2012 in Summitt, NJ, all of heaven rejoiced as Mother Delorse Frazier McGahee, 79 of East Orange, NJ went home to be with the Lord. She was born in Sasser, GA to the parents of the late Richard Frazier and Frances Loud-Frazier. She was educated in the public schools of Sasser. Delorse moved to Jersey City, NJ in 1956 and in 1966 married he late Huelton McGahee on July 4, 1966. This union was blessed with a daughter, the late Patricia Ann McGahee and a son, Huelton Raynard McGahee. Mother McGahee was a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in Jerey City, NJ and served faithfully as a member of the Senior Choir, President of the Flower Circle. Pastor's Aide, Trustee Aide and as a member of the Courtesy Guild. Anyone who knew her and experienced her culinary expertise will always remember her macaroni and cheese, collard greens, fried chicken, peach cobbler and pound cake. She will also been fondly remembered as a woman of elegance class and style especially her high fashion designer hats (many of which were made by her niece, Anne Thorne) and embellished suits and acessories. Delorse possed a spontaneous sense of humor, but was quick to lovingly chastise you if you stepped "out-of-lace". Along with her parents, husband and daughter, she was also preceded in death by several in-laws and other relatives and very close friends. She leaves behind to mourn her passing as well as celebrate her homegoing; an only son, Huelton Raynard McGahee and his wife, Renae; a sister, Mary Anna Davis; sisters-in-law, Louise and Eunice McGahee; niece, Emma L. Walton, Getrude Carvetter, and Jessie Loud(Solomon); aunt/mother of Anne Y. Thorne, LFD/Emb (Bishop John); goddaughter, Stephanie Gourdine; daughter in love, Mary Thompson; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, the New Hope Baptist Church Family and a plethora of loving friends who will dearly miss her. Services: Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 14, 2012 at New Hope Baptist Church in Jersey City, NJ from 9:30 am-11:30am. A homegoing celebration will begin at 11:30 am with he pastor Reverend Alonzo Perry, Sr. officiating. A graveside service and burial will also be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Graceland Memorial Park Cemetery in Miami, FL at 2:00pm with Bishop John A. Thorne (nephew), officiating. Arrangements are by The Family Funeral Home in Newark, NJ and her family's funeral home, Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
