Obituary for Christina C. Ford

Christina C. Ford 64, of Atlanta, GA died on Tuesday, October 23, 2007 in Atlanta, GA. She was born in Hobe Sound, FL to Rev. David Lee Ford, Sr. and Eliza Mae Ford. Christina graduated from Stuart Training School as Salutatorian, and from Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University with a Bachelors Degree in Nursing and a Masters Degree in Social Work from Atlanta University. She joined St. Matthew Primitive Baptist Church at an early age and in 1986, she became a member of Elizabeth Baptist Church in Atlanta, GA where she served on the Nurse's Guild. Christina was formerly employed at St. Mary's Hospital in West Palm Beach, FL and Holy Family/Southwest Hospital in Atlanta, GA. On April 1, 1970 she began employment with the Department of Family and Children's Services in Atlanta, GA. She was employed there for 34 years and served as an Agency Nurse, Intake Supervisor, and Supervisor of Family Services. She was also affiliated with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She was preceded in death by her mother, Eliza Mae Ford; grandparents, Charles and Lessie Bentley; a sisters, Alice Elizabeth Ford; and aunts, Annie Mae Patterson and Rachel Devine. Fond memories will be forever cherished by a son, Arris Ford of Atlanta, GA; her father, Rev. David Lee Ford, Sr. of Hobe Sound, FL; brothers, David Lee Ford, Jr. and Ricky L. Ford, both of Atlanta, GA; sisters, Eloise E. Ford-Wright of Atlanta, GA, and R. Vanessa Jackson of Hobe Sound, FL; nephews, Dubois L. Ford and Regenold (Ray-Ray) Ford; nieces, Patrice Ford, DeAndrea (Anjee) McHardy, LaTiffany C. Jackson, Joy A. Jackson, Leslie Myya Ford; grand-nephews, DeShawn A. McHardy, Joshua Elijah Jackson and a host of cousins and friends. A celebration of life was held on Monday, October 29th at Elizabeth Baptist Church with Murray Brothers Funeral Home in charge. Visitation in Florida will be held on Tuesday, October 30th at Thorne's Mortuary Chapel from 4-7pm and on Wednesday at 10am until service time at St. Matthew Primitive Baptist Church in Hobe Sound. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, October 31st at St. Matthew Primitive Baptist at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Banner Lake Cemetery, Hobe Sound. Thorne's Mortuary is in charge of local arrangements.
