Obituary for Carla Washington

Ms. Carla Vernice Washington 45, a resident of Port St. Lucie, FL, (formerly of Stuart) went home to be with the Lord at Hay Madeira Treasure Coast Hospice House in Stuart, FL on June 30, 2017. She was born to the parents of the late Evangelist Carol Washington Glover and Delmus Harris in West Palm Beach, FL on September 28, 1971. Carla attended the public schools of Martin County and she graduated from Martin County High School in 1990. She holds certifications from Indian River State College. She was employed as a Corrections Officer at the Martin Correctional Institute and transitioned to a Corrections Deputy at the Palm Beach County Sherrif’s office. She was preceded in death by her mother, Evangelist Carol Washington Glover, her grandmother, Naomi Mackey Raines, her maternal grand- parents, Leroy and Mantha Washington, her maternal great-grand- parents, Deacon Isaac Mackey and Mother Anna Mackey, her paternal great-grandparents, George and Sallie Washington, aunts, uncles and cousins too numerous to mention. Remaining to cherish her precious memories as well as celebrate her homegoing are: a loving son, Denzel Washington and a loving daughter Kayah Delancy both of Port St. Lucie, FL; her father, Delmus Harris, Jr., of West Palm Beach, FL; sisters, Carmen Anderson of Port Salerno, FL, Deborah Harris-Hornsby and Patricia Harris of Buffalo, NY, and Tara Monique Harris of Los Angeles, California; 1 brother, Delmus Harris, III of Los Angeles, California; 2 nieces, Bria Anderson and Kiala Harris; 1 nephew Johnathan Harris; aunts, Patsy Mackey of Port Salerno, FL, Angela Mackey of Orlando, FL and Janet Thornton Johnson of Port Salerno, FL; an uncle, Alan Raines(Hope)of Panama City, FL; great-uncle, Herbert Mackey (Donna) of Stuart, FL; great-aunts, Esther McDonald of Port Salerno, FL and Loretta Bradley of Hobe Sound, FL; and a host of cousins, other relatives, co-workers and friends who will dearly miss her meek and quiet spirit and her love for hearts and the color purple. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, July 7, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at the Port Salerno Church of God. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2017 11am at the church. She will await the resurrection at Florida Memorial Cemetery (formerly Banner Lake Cemetery) in Hobe Sound, FL. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart.
