Obituary for Bro. Eugene A. Brown Sr.

Bro. Eugene A. Brown, Sr. 74, of Stuart, FL went home to be with the Lord at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in West Palm Beach, FL. He was born in Canal Point, FL to the parentage of Otis C. Brown and Jessie Ponder. He was married for 50 years to the lovely Mary R.(Alridge) Brown and to this blessed union three children were born. He retired from the United States Air Force receiving an honorable discharge after 20 years of service. Bro. Brown was a member of the Port Salerno Church of God in Stuart, FL and served as a Sunday School Teacher, a member of the Men's Fellowship, leader of Tuesday night prayer and was a member of the choir. He was employed as a licensed technician for the telephone industry, and retired from the Indiantown Telephone Company after 23 year s of dedicated service. Bro Brown was a graduate of Stuart Training School, Class of 1953. He graduated from Indian River Community college with an Associate in Science degree in Electronics Engineering Technology. In 1999, Bro. Brown served as a tutor for the Martin County Literacy Council, Inc. Bro. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, Otis C. Brown and Jessie Ponder and stepfather, Riley McKinzey. Surviving to cherish his precious memories as well as celebrate his homegoing are: a loving and devoted wife, Mary R. (Alridge) Brown of Stuart, FL; caring children, Eugene A. Brown, Jr. (Lourdes)of Alexandria, VA, Chantel Robinson (Marti) of Laurence Harbor, NJ and Brigitte Brown of Stuart, FL; 3 loving grandchildren and 1 adorable great-grandchild; a brother, Otis C. Brown, Riviera Beach, FL; like a brother, Charles Jones (Mary) of Stuart, FL; a sister, Shirley German (Francis German, Jr.) of Indianapolis, IN; brothers and sisters-in-law, Isaiah Alridge (Ethel) of Hollister, FL, Thelma Waters (Leroy) of Indiantown, FL, Gloria Alridge Jennings of Vero Beach, FL, Gladys Alridge Clark of Stuart, FL, Emma Rich (Raymond) of West Palm Beach, FL, Barbara Alridge of Jacksonville, FL, Richard Alridge (Diane) of Jonesboro, GA, David Alridge (Deborah) of Bradenton, FL, Cheryl Alridge of Okeechobee, FL, Diane Harvard of Atlanta, GA and Brenda Harvard of West Palm Beach, FL; a host of other relatives including, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, church family and friends. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, April 30, 2010 from 4pm-7pm at the Port Salerno Church of God in Stuart, FL. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2010 at 11:00am at the church with Bishop Glenford E. Hutchinson, officiating. Burial with full military honors and dove release will follow on Monday, May 3, 2010 at the South Florida National Cemetery in Lake Worth, FL at 11:00am.
