Obituary for Bertha Mae Guthrie Mother

Mother Bertha Guthrie, 86 of Hobe Sound, FL quietly transitioned from earth to glory at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She was born in Putnam Hall, FL to the parents of the late Richard Eubanks, Sr. and the late Alice Davis Eubanks. She was educated in the public schools of Putnum County, GA. In 1957 she moved to Hobe Sound and united with the Hobe Sound Church of God where she served not only as the Church Mother, a member of Women's Ministries and as a Trustee, but in other capacities too numerous to mention. Mother Guthrie will always be fondly remembered as a quiet women of prayer and faith, and always had an encouraging word to share. Along with her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilson Thomas Guthrie, Sr.; a daughter, Grace Evelyn Smith; 7 sisters and 6 brothers. Survivors include: 4 sons, Wilson Thomas Guthrie, Jr. (Doris) of Hawthorne, FL, Reverend Tyrone B. Guthrie, Sr. (Tina) and Roland Randolph Guthrie (Diane) of Hobe Sound, FL and Reverend Tony Anthony Guthrie (Dorothy) of Fort Pierce, FL; 3 daughters, Carolyn Guthrie, Cora A. Hatcher and Mary Dubois (Joseph) all of Hobe Sound, FL; 2 sisters, Catherine Lewis and Leona Oliver of Putnam Hall, FL; goddaughter, Gwen Blatch of Hobe Sound, FL; 19 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives including nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, neighbors and friends. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, July 6, 2012 from 4pm-7pm at the Hobe Sound Church of God. A homegoing celebration will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012, 11am at the Port Salerno Church of God in Port Salerno, FL with Bishop Aston Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Banner Lake Cemetery in Hobe Sound, FL. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL. Please sign the guest book.
