Obituary for Arthur Simmons Jr.

Arthur Simmons, 49 of Indiantown, FL passed away at his residence on Sunday, August 13, 2017. He was born in West Palm Beach, FL to the parents of Patricia Ann Thompson and the late Arthur Simmons, Sr.  Arthur Jr. on August 8, 1968.  Arthur was educated in the public schools of Martin County and attended South Fork High School. Earlier in life, he was employed at Fort Pierce Packing House.  He was a member of the Thompson Temple COGIC in Indiantown, FL under the leadership of his late grandfather Reverend Henry Thompson. Arthur will be remembered by his family and those who knew him best, as a lover of music, cooking, shopping, a riding partner and a #1 fan of the Dallas Cowboys. He was preceded in death by: his father,  Arthur Simmons, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Reverend Henry Thompson and Mother Mattie Louise Thompson; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Elizabeth Simmons; and a sister, LaTonya Elaine Simmons. Arthur Simmons, Jr. is loving survived by:  2 daughters, Lynisia Scott of Statesboro, GA and Venshula Scott of Fort Pierce, FL; 6 grandchildren, Lyntricia, Malik, Makaya, Jeremiah, Wilfred and Nykecia; his mother, Patricia Simmons (Jose' Galvez); 2 brothers, Anthony Jerome Simmons and Cameron Lavell Simmons (Rosa Maldonado), all of Indiantown, FL; uncles, David J. Thompson (Shannon), Thomas H.G. Thompson, Calvin A. Thompson all of Indiantown, FL; and Alfred Thompson of Pahokee, FL; aunts, Phyllis A. Rainey and Melba Pizzaro of Indiantown, FL, Alice Gilpin of Fort Pierce, FL and Merian Thompson of Pahokee, FL;  9 nephews, 4 nieces; 2 grandnephews, 3 grandnieces; and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends including special friends, Albert Riggins, Jr., Rodney Hamilton, Anthony Elmore, Carl Willis, Alex Oliver and Tereska Kelly. Services: Visitation will be held on Friday, September 2, 2017 from 5pm-7pm at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Indiantown, FL.  A celebration of life will be held at the church on Saturday, September 3, 2017at 11am. Burial will  follow at Port Mayaca Cemetery in Canal Point, FL. Arrangements have been entrusted into the care of Thorne's Mortuary in Stuart, FL.
