Obituary for Arthur Lee "Sneely" Carter Sr.

Arthur Lee Carter, Sr. 61, a resident of Port Saint Lucie, FL died at St. Lucie Medical Center in Port Saint Lucie. He was born in Hawkinsville, GA to the parents of Harry Scott and Estella Mae Colson. Mr. Carter completed his primary and secondary education in the public schools of Pulaski County Georgia. Before retirement he was employed for over 25yrs. as a truck driver for Lehigh Cement Company. Mr. Carter was of the Baptist faith and a former member of Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Stuart, FL. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and received an honorable discharge on August 14, 1971. He was awarded a Purple Heart for injuries received during the war and he achieved the rank of Sergeant. Other commendations include, the National Defense Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Scott and Estella Mae Colson; wife, Eva Mae Carter; a son, James A. Carter and a sister, Josephine Williams. Survivors include: his companion and friend, Chinette "Andrea" Solomon of Port Saint Lucie; 3 sons, Joseph Rhodes (Melissa), Arthur Lee Carter, Jr. of Port Saint Lucie and Artevese Carter of Lake Worth, FL; 2 daughters, Ann King (Tim) of Jefferson, GA and Samyrah Carter of Port Saint Lucie; children that was nurtured as his own, Joshua Solomon of Stuart, Clarence Moore of Port Salerno, FL, Ezekiel Moore of Port Saint Lucie, Sharena and Shannon Solomon of Port Saint Lucie; 3 brothers, Bobby Carter (Lelia) of Cochran, GA, James E. Colson of Detroit, MI and James Colson (Pam) of Burton, SC; several grand and great-grandchildren, other relatives including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Services: Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2009 from 4pm-7pm at Thorne's Mortuary and a "Celebration of Life" will be held on Thursday, January 29, 2009, 11:00am at Thorne's Mortuary. Burial will follow in Lynwood Cemetery, Hawkinsville, Georgia on Saturday, January 31, 2009 with Military Honors.
